About Our Athletics

We provide a competitive sports program to our students, families, and fans that fosters Christ-like character among our student-athletes in addition to athletic abilities.

Many circumstances arise in preparation for and during athletic competition that offers opportunities for God’s principles to be applied and it is our goal to see students exemplify Christ-likeness in everything they do. Our dedicated coaches help young people relate victories and defeats, as well as the principles of hard work and teamwork to their daily walk with the Lord.

Our high school athletes compete in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) 1A level of competition. TAPPS is a statewide program that is governed by a Board of Directors, and they form the rules, regulations, districts, and levels of competition that we adhere to.

Greetings Cougar Fans!

A Message From the Athletic Director, Randy Reed

Hello Cougar Nation,
An athletic director faces one of the most complex, challenging, and rewarding leadership roles at any school, whether working at the Jr high or high school level. My goal is to develop our Faith Academy Athletic program’s strengths and set it on the path to long-term success. Like any leader, the athletic director must wear many hats and be prepared to adapt to a wide range of situations. Flexibility, focus, and the skill to build a winning culture with limited resources are essential. I promise you I will do my best to make you proud—Cougar Nation proud.
Every athletic director brings their own interests, background, and skills to the position. Still, there are some core traits that can be seen at work again and again in the most successful athletic programs. To be the best, we will strive for continuous improvement. Thank you in advance for your patience, fairness, and ongoing support.
Our Faith Academy athletic department can be counted on for the following essential traits:

  1. Strong Sense of Character Judgment – The Right People in the Right Places.
  2. Excellent Communication Skills – Ready to Speak for the Program.
  3. A Passion for Athletics – Demonstrating What Sportsmanship Means.
  4. Leadership – Modeling Tenacity and Heart to the Organization.
  5. Prioritization and Problem Solving – Making the Tough Calls.
  6. Vision and Inspiration – Guiding the Program in New Directions.
  7. The Ability to Keep it All in Perspective – Not Forgetting to Have Fun.

As we partner together to make our mission a reality, it will take each of us doing what is necessary for success. Go Cougars!

Faith Academy has had some amazing accomplishments during its 39 years, and we’re poised to accomplish bigger and better things in the years to come!  From 6-man football in the fall to track and soccer in the spring there are 16 different sports for student athletes in grades 5-12.

There is an excellent staff of coaches that God has assembled and an amazing group of student athletes, both on and off the court/field. The combination of these two groups, along with all the FA families that are committed to seeing our Athletic Department flourish, has set the stage for the Cougars to be a model of excellent athletics in Victoria.

Thanks to the Spring Extravaganza fundraising efforts we opened a 12,000 square foot gymnasium/student activity center on the Mockingbird Campus the 2017-2018 school year. As we partner together to make our mission and vision a reality, it will take each of us doing what is necessary for success. This includes coaches that care about our students and continually develop them athletically and spiritually, players that are committed to the sport of their choosing and devoted to their teammates, parents that support the vision of the FA Athletic Department and do their part in volunteering when needed, and fans that continually encourage our teams without discouraging others. When we come together, we can develop a competitive, Christian program that honors God and fosters Christ-like character in every student-athlete.

I would also encourage you to take a moment to check out our Facebook page. There you can get the most up to date photos, player interviews, links to articles, events, and game score updates.
